Laurence Fishburne
Laurence Fishburne is in talks to join the cast of Hannibal, NBC’s contemporary series take on the characters from Thomas Harris’ “Red Dragon” novel, reports TV Line.
The site has learned that the veteran actor ― who most recently starred as Dr. Raymond Langston in both CSI: NY and CSI: Miami ― is in negotiations to play the central role of Jack Crawford, the agent-in-charge at the Behavioral Science Unit of the FBI, charged with tracking down a certain flesh-eating serial killer.
The role has been played in previous film iterations by Dennis Farina in Manhunter (1986), Scott Glenn in Silence of the Lambs (1991), and Harvey Keitel in Red Dragon (2002).
The project, written and executive-produced by Mockingbird Lane creator Bryan Fuller, revolves around the budding relationship between FBI agent Will Graham (played by Hugh Dancy) and his mentor Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), both of whom are re-introduced at the beginning of their budding relationship.
Hannibal is slated to debut midseason.
