Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Good Universe have acquired multipicture rights to Susan Ee’s bestselling Amazon Publishing book series Angelfall. Raimi and Tapert (The Possession) will produce with Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane as executive producers. Drake previously worked on The Hunger Games.
Like The Hunger Games, Angelfall is young adult fantasy novel. The story focuses on a 17-year-old girl’s attempt to rescue her sister from the stronghold of the angels of the apocalypse after they have destroyed the world. Her only ally is an enemy angel whom she found injured.
Angelfall was initially self-published by Ee before being picked up by Amazon Children’s Publishing. The book ranked #1 on Amazon’s Most Wished For Teen Book list and #1 best seller in Sci-fi & Fantasy. Susan Ee is a lawyer turned writer and Angelfall is her debut novel. The second book in the series will release in Fall 2013.
