Public Enemies tells the story of legendary Depression-era outlaw John Dillinger (Depp)—the charismatic bank robber whose lightning raids made him the number one target of J. Edgar Hoover's fledgling FBI and its top agent, Melvin Purvis (Bale), and a folk hero to much of the downtrodden public.
Directed by Michael Mann, Public Enemies arrives in theaters on July 1.
This is a film to which we're genuinely looking forward. It has it all: a great story, terrific cast and the stewardship of Michael Mann. Of course, that's also just enough to potentially screw it up…but we're hopeful.
