Seth Rogen Discusses 'Green Hornet' Problems
Problems...? Really...?

Seth RogenIt's not been difficult to read between the headlines and discern that Seth Rogen's Green Hornet feature film has been riddled with difficulties since day one.

First off, and most seriously, Rogen is shepherding the project and starring as Britt Reid, which would automatically seem to suggest a comedic take. No offense to Rogen, but the knee-jerk reaction to that idea felt a little like pygmies shaving one's body with a wood chipper...as one gets French kissed by one's grandmother...on stage...in front of all one's friends.

Just... wrong.

Then it was suggested that the addition of Michel Gondry — after Stephen Chow elected not to helm the film — had led to a rethinking of the material, and that it might not be a comedy after all.

More recently, Chow also backed out of playing Kato, the release date was pushed back, and yet the project still remains without an actor to play Kato.

Rogen's public face remains unfazed, however. "It's going great," he told SCI FI Wire. "In my head, we lost Stephen Chow in April, so it's something I've had a lot of time to wrap my head around."

Rogen added that he and the studio are currently searching for Chow's replacement and may even bring something to the San Diego Comic-Con this week. "There may be a little something at Comic-Con. I never know what I can say and what I can't say," said Rogen.

"You know, we're not trying to make what they would probably consider to be a 100 percent safe version of a movie like this," Rogen confessed. "We like to push the envelope in some directions. We like to do things that we find interesting and new and original. You bring Michel Gondry into the equation, and that opens up a whole new bag of worms."

Worms may be an apt metaphor, Seth.

Are we being too tough on Rogen, do you think, or do you agree that this project sounded like a bad idea from the get? Let us know below.
