HBO has released a new minute-and-a-half long trailer for their forthcoming miniseries, The Pacific, presented by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg—a series in the same vein as Band of Brothers. Over the span of 10 episodes, The Pacific tells the intertwined stories of three Marines during their battles against the Japanese in the Pacific theater during World War II.
The extraordinary experiences of these men and their fellow Marines take them from the first clash with the Japanese in the haunted jungles of Guadalcanal, through the impenetrable rain forests of Cape Gloucester, across the blasted coral strongholds of Peleliu, up the black sand terraces of Iwo Jima, through the killing fields of Okinawa, to the triumphant, yet uneasy, return home after V-J Day.
The miniseries was shot in Australia and will appear on HBO in ten parts in March of 2010, likely in the spring, though the network has yet to set a firm date for the debut.
