Marvel Properties May Head for Television
Following in the footsteps of 'Smallville'

After nine seasons, no one can deny that Smallville has been a smash hit for WB/CW. The formula has been so successful, in fact, that Disney likely couldn't help but take notice. According to The Sacramento Bee, Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger said the company may initially develop new characters for television as opposed to the big screen, seeing huge potential in TV. The plan is to develop this strategy for some of Marvel's lesser known characters such as Ant-Man and Iron Fist.
"Instead of making a $200 million movie and kind of betting the farm on one character, you can develop a television pilot, a television series," Iger told analysts.
While we like the idea, we're not sure about selling an entire series on a third tier hero. On the other hand, don your tinfoil hats for a moment and feel free to indulge in speculation about which of this lineup would best suit small screen, live action adventures. Moon Knight was slated for television two years ago, but fell apart. What about Demolition Man…or Banshee? After all, a lesser known character spun off the 'X-Men' film franchise could be interesting, and might create a valuable big screen/small screen synergy.
