Live Action 'Star Wars' Series Moves to Preproduction?
For those whose breath is barely bated while waiting

At this point, it's hard to gauge how much of a residual glow still surrounds 'Star Wars', after the somewhat disappointing prequel films and the largely pedestrian Clone Wars series. Still, 'Star Wars' is 'Star Wars', and we suspect still retains enough cachet to eclipse a small moon. Anticipation for the forthcoming live action series is thus likely still to be high, if a bit muted at the moment. To get those Jedi juices flowing comes a report from scifitv.com (SCI FI Channel's Australian blog), that reports the live action 'Star Wars' series is kicking into gear and readying for production. Here's the report:
Rumours about the pre-production of Star Wars, the live action series, to be shot in Australia, have been confirmed by several inside sources.
The quality and style of writing that will be used will be of the highest quality, and local, and writers will be sourced from outside traditional Science Fiction shows. Several big names within the Australian industry (including writers from the Award-winning Love My Way and the Award-winning Secret Life of Us) have been approached by Star Wars uber-producer, Rick McCallum.
Love My Way and Secret Life of Us can be characterised by the focus on relationships and emotional landscapes (traditional 'chick shows', if you will). Bringing this element into the world of Star Wars sees a marked departure of the final three films and animated Clone Wars, where the primary audience was children.
This throws the new series into a whole new spotlight, and should excite fans of the Star Wars universe looking towards more adult fare.
More solidification of rumour into fact will come as soon as possible.
So while we continue to wait, tell us, are you excited about the live action 'Star Wars' series?

George Lucas will write and produce the first season of the live action 'Star Wars' series, and then hand it off, while remaining executive producer and general overseer throughout the rest of the series. The style of the series will be similar to Lucas' Young Indiana Jones TV show. Lucas has stated that, in producing the show, "we will do what would typically cost $20 million, for $1 million." Principal photography will take place all around the world, with a base likely in Sydney, Australia according to Rick McCallum.
