The 'Robopocalypse' May be Coming with Steven Spielberg at the Helm!
Director may helm robot apocalypse movie

Steven Spielberg is currently attached to six films in production, and has another twenty in development, including the When Worlds Collide remake (producer) and the Lincoln biopic (producer, director). He recently passed on the remake of Harvey with Robert Downey Jr, and Matt Helm with Jon Hamm.Meanwhile, Deadline is reporting that another project has caught his eye, Robopocalypse. The project is based upon a forthcoming book by Daniel H. Wilson.
Cloverfield screenwriter Drew Goddard has been hired to adapt Wilson's new book, which focuses on the human race's attempt to survive an apocalyptic robot uprising. What's interesting here is that Wilson hasn't completed the book yet, but apparently Goddard has already begun the adaptation and Spielberg is seriously eyeing it as a feature film.
Wilson received a Ph.D. in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He previously wrote "How to Survive a Robot Uprising: Tips on Defending Yourself Against the Coming Rebellion", a semi-satirical book published in November 2005. Wired magazine gave it a 2006 Rave Award, calling it "equal parts sci-fi send-up and technical primer."
Thus, Wilson's previous reputation may partially explain the filmmakers' interest in a new book not yet completed.
One thing that has been completed, however, is Spielberg's filming of The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn. Where the director will next turn his attention is the subject of much speculation in Hollywood.
The favored projects include his Lincoln biopic, or possibly the George Gershwin biopic (to which Zachary Quinto is attached for the title role)…so it will be interesting to see where Robopocalypse falls in the pecking order.
