'The Crow' Remake Starts Casting
But Luke Goss' involvement may be all rumor

The following seems like a non-story, but things have been quiet around the planned reboot of The Crow lately, so I figured, why not remind people it’s actually happening?

According to The Geek Files over at Coventry Telegraph, executives at Relativity Media are excited about the script turned in by director Stephen Norrington, and the project has entered the casting stages. The Crow, for those unfamiliar with the property, revolves around a rock musician murdered with his girlfriend; he returns from the dead one year later, seeking revenge on those responsible.

Originally a graphic novel, Alex Proyas directed the 1994 movie version starring Brandon Lee as the titular character. Three movie sequels and a TV show followed, but by 2005’s The Crow: Wicked Prayer, the series was going direct-to-video.

When interviewed, Norrington hinted his version of The Crow would be realistic and almost documentary-like. This would be a significant contrast from the gothic, stylized 1994 film, but keeping in step with such recent fare as District 9 and Paranormal Activity.

So who’s going to star in the new Crow? No one knows, but according to The Geek Files, one actor who’s been linked to the role definitely isn’t on board yet. According to a representative for Luke Goss, who’s had roles in a number of fantasy films directed by Guillermo del Toro, he has not signed on for Norrington’s movie.

"I don't know where this came from, I don't even recall Luke talking about The Crow in many years," the person said.

The representative suspects there had a mix-up, since Goss, who played Prince Nuada in Hellboy II: The Golden Army and the vampire Nomak in Blade II, had been offered the lead heavy in The Crow: Wicked Prayer. Ultimately, the part went to David Boreanaz.

"Luke was offered the role of Luc Crash in The Crow: Wicked Prayer, back in 2005; however, we had another offer at the time and couldn't work out the dates. I think someone has just put together an old interview, that's the only explanation."

Having seen Hellboy II, Goss does seems to have the right intensity to play a vengeful spirit out for blood. Also, his music background (he was in a popular 80’s boy band, apparently) would make him a good fit, too. But is there someone else who would make a better Crow? Let us know.
