Robert Rodriguez Wants 'Sin City 2' Sooner Rather than Later
He and writer Frank Miller hope to make it happen very soon

It sounds like Robert Rodriguez is itching to get the long-awaited Sin City sequel off the ground.Apparently, one of the factors holding up the project has been a screenplay, but that hurdle may be close to being out of the way. MTV reports that Rodriguez, speaking at the recent South By Southwest Film Festival, said he’s about to get a new Sin City 2 script and would prefer to start work on it soon.
"It's only about timing," Rodriguez said. "It could happen very soon. It could happen a little later, it could happen even later. But probably sooner is better."
The 2005 film Sin City told a series of intersecting crime stories based on the graphic novels by Frank Miller, who also served as co-writer and director. Miller went on to direct a less-successful adaptation of Will Eisner’s The Spirit, while Rodriguez has continued his path as a triple-threat—writing, directing and producing all sorts of movies.
It’s unclear whether the new script Rodriguez mentioned was sent to him by Miller or a third-party writer, but it’s been rumored that Sin City 2 will include all-new Frank Miller stories set in his fictional Basin City.
Producer Stephen L’Heureux and star Clive Owen previously hinted the film could begin production sometime this year. Rodriguez, of course, has been less specific about when Sin City 2 might happen, but optimistically claimed that Frank Miller himself "doesn’t want to wait that long."
