Two years ago it was widely reported that a feature film version of 24 was in the works, set to go into production as soon as the series completed its run…whenever that was. Many thought that the show had already perpetuated far too much of a good thing beyond its second season, and that it wouldn't translate well to the big screen without being forced to jettison the ticking clock gimmick that had made the series so successful. In other words, a bit of a catch 22.Regardless of how you may feel about the idea, it's apparently still alive. According to Kiefer Sutherland, the cast and writers of 24 are determined to make a feature film version of the series. Speaking with The Press Association during a break in filming the FOX series, Sutherland joked, "We've been perpetuating the rumor for years!"
And still are, apparently. The actor added that if a film version is confirmed, London and Europe could be the logical setting.
"We've wanted to film all around Europe," he said. "I think one of the great things about Europe, especially if you're going to do something where a two-hour film represents 24 hours, then it's very feasible to get from Eastern Europe to London in seven hours."
"It doesn't eat up all the time. Whereas if you're doing 24 episodes and you're trying to get, even from Miami to Washington, that's four episodes on a plane and people stop watching!" Sutherland laughed.
"Europe has been something that we've all talked about as an opportunity for the film," he added, "which unfortunately just has not presented itself for us in the show."
We're not sure what they have in mind, but on a personal note, the only way I can see a feature film version of 24 working is if they give it the same attention and detail as the 'Bourne' franchise—a smart, taught story, but with some wicked twists.

I can't wait for season 8!
But I do like the idea of making it sort of Bourne-ish. That would give it the big screen feel it would need.
I never want to see anyone else play the role. Kiefer was born to play Jack Bauer.

Unless it really is the end of 24. Short climax of everything
