Battle between three-letter titles begins in October

Bruce Willis will be taking on Jigsaw next October.
No, it won’t be in the same movie. But Variety is reporting that Summit Entertainment has settled on October 22 as the release date for Red, its espionage thriller based on the DC/WildStorm comic by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner.
Saw VII, the latest in Lionsgate’s torture-porn series, is scheduled for release on the same day. The 'Saw' franchise has become a regular staple of late Octobers, but Red might draw a wider audiences; along with Willis, the film stars Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, and Mary Louise-Parker.
The film revolves around a former black-ops CIA agent who has quietly retired, until the day a high-tech assassin shows up to kill him. With his loved ones in danger, the old school spy must reassemble his old team, and figure out who is coming after him. Red is directed by Robert Schwentke.
Saw VI was the lowest-grossing of the 'Saw' movies to date, but according to franchise owner and producer Mark Burg, the upcoming Saw VII will be in 3-D, which could boost its performance. Production on the film is slated to begin in January 2010.
Prisoners, an Antoine Fuqua-directed thriller about a survivalist who kidnaps and tortures the man he believes kidnapped his six-year-old daughter, is also scheduled for a October 22, 2010 release.

As Kodachrome points out, the article specifically mentions "torture-porn," as in pornography about torture, not "torture/porn," meaning torture and pornography.
Meanwhile, whether I was in fact degrading the Saw movies depends, I think, on the reader's own opinion of pornography.

Robert/Sarah...I guess you guys don't understand the meaning of the word "porn" as it is used in this context.
pornography doesn't just refer to sex. it means "...catering to a voyeuristic or obsessive interest in a specified subject." and that is EXACTLY what the SAW films do and what they're about. get educated before you riff on something you don't get.

Torture porn? Seriously? You promote the film "Red" by degrading the "Saw" series by calling it torture porn. Agenda much?

The SAW franchise is not torture porn, I'm so sick and tired of people calling it that. The only nude torture ever in SAW was in Saw III, the films after that never featured that again. So stop labeling SAW as torture porn because your completely wrong.
