Aron RalstonProduction Weekly is reporting that James Franco ('Spider-Man' franchise) will star in Fox Searchlight Pictures' 127 Hours.

The film, to be directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire), concerns mountaineer Aron Ralston, whose right forearm got pinned for nearly five days under a boulder during a climb in Utah in May 2003.

He used a dull knife to amputate the limb, then scaled a 65-foot sheer wall and hiked out before running into a family that gave him water and food.

Filming is set to begin early March in Utah.

It's an amazing story and human drama, though the circumstances will probably make for some grim viewing. The thought of having to hack one's arm off with a penknife sounds worse than any 'Saw' movie.

We're curious to know if this film would interest our readers. Let us know below.

I could fictionalize this story and make it absolutely breathtaking. However, as a factual story, it’s a yawn’er.

Young 13-year old Hawaiian surfer, Bethany Hamilton was surfing when unseen by her, a 14-foot tiger shark made circles around her surfboard, then with a snarly razor chomp from a jutting mouth of teeth, chewed off the girl's arm all the way up to her shoulder blade. Young Bethany, made it to shore: bleeding profusely she sat down in the sand and calmly waited for help to arrive.

These two incredibly brave amputees could scratch and bite for box office receipts, but I'd put my money on the cute wahine ‘Soul Surfer’ from Kauai. Her story is presently being filmed in Hawaii for theatrical release this year.
